Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy applies to Inkquation, a macOS app developed by Junji Fujimoto, and its official website.

Notes and settings

Your notes, images, folders, tags, and app settings are stored on your Mac. Inkquation has no app account registration, cloud sync, advertising, or analytics. The app does not automatically send your notes or usage information to a developer-operated server.

Protection of data on your device depends on macOS access controls and settings such as FileVault. Inkquation does not encrypt notes with a separate app password.

Optional AI connections

AI connections are off by default. Enabling AI Connection in Settings allows apps running as your macOS user to read open notes and selections and insert images through MCP (Model Context Protocol). Review this access before enabling the connection.

If your chosen AI client uses a cloud service, it may send note content to that service. Transmission, retention, and use for model training depend on your chosen client and AI service, their settings, and their privacy policies. Check the recipient before working with confidential information.

Disabling AI Connection stops subsequent connections and access. It does not delete data already received by a client or service. Follow that service’s instructions to delete any content it retains.

Exported files and clipboard

Images are imported, PDFs are exported, selections are copied, and backups are saved or restored in response to your actions. Copied content is made available to other apps through the macOS clipboard.

Full backups are not encrypted. They may include notes, trashed notes, and metadata retained in stored images. Keep backups in a safe location. Files you save to a cloud-synced folder or share with others are also handled by the destination or recipient service.

Retention and deletion

Notes remain on your Mac until you delete them. Trashed notes can be restored. Permanently deleting a note from the trash removes it from the app’s note library; this does not guarantee unrecoverable erasure from the storage device.

Exported PDFs, backups, safety backups made before a restore, and copies held by other apps or OS backups remain after the original note is deleted. Delete unwanted copies at their respective locations. The developer cannot access or delete notes on your Mac.

Diagnostics

The app records operational status and error categories in local Mac diagnostic logs. It has no automatic diagnostic upload feature of its own. Sharing diagnostics with Apple is governed by your macOS settings and Apple’s privacy policy. Review logs and screenshots before choosing to share them with support.

Contacting support

When you email support, your sender name, email address, message, and attachments are used to respond to your request. Avoid sending unnecessary notes or personal information. Support information is retained for as long as needed to handle the request and deleted when no longer needed. You can use the same contact to request deletion. Information that must be retained by law is kept for that purpose.

Website and policy updates

The official website is hosted on GitHub Pages. When you visit it, the hosting provider processes connection information such as your IP address. We also use Google Analytics to understand and improve use of the website. Google Analytics uses cookies and sends information such as pages viewed and device and browser details to Google. The site does not display advertising. See the policies of GitHub and Google for their data-handling practices. You can disable collection by Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Changes to data handling or features will be reflected on this page with an updated date. The in-app policy is the copy included with that app version. The current policy is available on the official website.
